Paleogenomics offers a completely new view of inequality by examining the genetic footprints it has left on humans throughout history. Genetic studies reveal repeated episodes of difference in ancient societies: the powerful over the poor, men over women, and technologically advanced societies over traditional ones.
And we, who are largely the descendants of those who practiced inequality in the past, are in a position to ask ourselves how to confront it in the future.
